Information

Print Formats

8x10 prints are available on two different kinds of paper: RC and standard fiber. RC (resin plastic coated) paper is easy to handle in the darkroom, so I charge less for prints made on it. RC paper prints last for at least 50 years before the plastic coating begins to turn yellow. Standard fiber paper prints, on the other hand, are archivally washed and (given proper care) should last at least 250 years without any noticeable degradation, but making them involves extra labor so I charge more.

11x14 and 16x20 prints are available on fiber paper only, in the following formats.

Shrink-wrapped prints are mounted with rice paper hinges on archival quality acid-free foam boardand shrink-wrapped to seal them and protect them from dust, stains, etc. They can be displayed "as-is" without framing, or they can later be removed from the shrink-wrap and framed.

Framed prints are the highest quality possible: the prints are mounted with rice paper hinges on archival quality acid-free foam board, matted with archival-quality acid-free cloth mattes, and sealed in archival-quality frames with non-glare glass. The style of the frame is that which I judge to be appropriate for each image and may not necessarily be the same for every print you buy. I number and sign each of these prints on the mounting matte.

All prints 11x14 and larger (framed, matted or bare) are shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity, which also documents the date the print was made, the brand and type of photographic paper used, and the paper manufacturer's lot number.

All 16x20 prints are Limited Editions: Only twenty (20) prints that size are made; once those are sold I will make no more prints of that size ... and I'm retaining four 16x20s of each shot for myself, so there are only sixteen (16) 16x20 prints of each shot available and some have already been sold: get them while they last!

Prices and Shipping

All prices include applicable taxes. Shipping and handling are extra, calculated at 15% of the total price of your order for residents of the U.S. and Canada. The Shopping Cart figures shipping and handling for you and adds that to the amount you owe. Residents of other countries should email me to obtain a quote on shipping charges and to arrange details. 8x10 prints are shipped in archival vinyl sleeves; bare (unmounted) 11x14 and 16x20 prints are sealed in virgin vinyl envelopes. 8x10 prints are snailmailed (unless a larger print is also ordered, in which case I'll stick the 8x10s in with it) and larger prints are shipped via UPS or Federal Express--you may specify which carrier.

Print prices are subject to change without notice. Color print prices apply only to a very few photos shot in color: if it's black and white in the Site, it is not available in color.

    Additional Information, Caveats, and Conditions

    Tones and framing:

These scans have been adjusted to show the best tones and contrast on a computer monitor, so the tones and contrast you see in them will not necessarily be those of the print you receive. Nor will the precise framing of your print match the scans, either, since it was technically necessary to very slightly crop the edges of most of these shots when they were scanned. I can guarantee that the print you buy will contain at least the amount of picture information in the scan and that it will contain the full image on the negative (except in a very few cases, which have white rather than black borders and which are noted in the ABOUT page descriptions), and that the tonal balance of the print will be appropriate in my judgment.

    Watermarks:

In a (perhaps vain) attempt to discourage photo piferage, these scans have been "watermarked" with a red-on-green copyright notice, my logo, and the url of this web site; they have additionally been Digimarked. The prints you buy are not watermarked or otherwise defaced in any manner.

    Reproduction Rights Reserved:
All prints are sold with the express condition that their unauthorized duplication of any kind, in any form, is a violation of copyright law and will be ferociously prosecuted: I don't hire lawyers, I hire cement contractors.

    How to Order Prints

Click on any of the "BUY!" buttons and follow the instructions, or view the large-size version of an image and click the "BUY!" button there--it's as simple as that. You will get a small "pop-up" window in which you specify the print format and the number of prints you want. Then, click on the "Add" button to add that order to the Shopping Cart. (If you also want to buy another print of the same image in a different format, click on the "BUY!" button again.) You can view and edit the contents of the Shopping Cart at any time by clicking a View Cart link; the Cart Viewer displays a thumbnail and brief description of each print in the Shopping Cart. There is a Help File for the Shopping cart; links to it are on the various Cart pages.

When you have decided what prints you want, fill in your ordering information ... all blanks are mandatory. (Note: For your security, prints will be shipped only to the credit card billing address, which will be verified before the order is processed.) You can then either click the "Submit" button to send in your order via a secure, encrypted connection, or print out the order form and either fax or snail-mail it in. If you wish to pay by check or money order rather than with a credit card, mail your order in. Orders paid by check will not be processed until the check clears.
